THE FIVE CUBANS, POLITICAL PRISONERS IN
THE USA!
CONCLUDING STATEMENT BY THE HUNGER STRIKERS.
S T A T E M E N T
The
4th of July, Independence Day of the United
States, we, Tomas Widén and Toni
Lappalainen, members of the Swedish-Cuban
Association, started a hungerstrike in Stockholm.
We finish the strike today on the 26th of
July, Cuba's National Day celebrating the
Rebellion.
The
hungerstrike has been done to demand the
freeing of the five Cubans who have unjustly
been condemned to many years imprisonment
in the jails of the U.S.A. Their only crimes
are that they have struggled against terrorism
and revealed its aggressive plans against
the Cuban People and their Revolution, and
that they have saved the lives of innocent
Cubans and North Americans. Daniel Maidana,
Carolina Salinas and Brenda Ortiz have joined
in on the hunger strike to support this
great and important action.
Another
goal for the action, has been to inform
the public in Sweden and to crush that wall
of silence, which encircles the United States
aggression against Cuba, and encircles the
vile crime of injustice done against the
Cuban Five.
The
hungerstrike which finishes today, has been
part of a big campaign comprising many different
activities. These will continue until we
reach the goal of Gerardo Hernández,
Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero,
Fernando González and René
González being set free.
The
hungerstrike has managed to mobilise a large
number of women and men, young and old,
solidarity organisations, cultural workers
and alternative media. We would like to
thank them all for their support to the
Campaign.
We
also thank those Comrades who every day
here in Stockholm have been handing out
flyers about these Five Cuban Anti-terrorists
who have been condemned to inhuman punishment
in the U.S.A.
We also thank all those who have come from
different parts of Sweden to support the
Campaign and show their solidarity with
the Cuban Revolution.
Vi finish our manifestation stronger than
ever and are convinced that another world
is possible.
We
shall not take a rest until we succeed getting
our Five Cuban Comrades set free!
